What is "Guilty Filed" in Massachusetts?
Updated: Mar 13
A "guilty filed" is when the Court finds you guilty but does not impose the sentence immediately. Instead, the Court holds off on imposing the sentence for a period of time. If you are not charged with any new offenses during that time, the Court will not impose the sentence.
A "guilty filed" disposition counts as a conviction on your record, even though there is no sentence imposed.
